The system of record around the build

iERP takes the parts, the people and the paperwork a plant already generates and returns the system around them: procurement, inventory, production, quality, assets, and the warranty that outlives the build.

What it does

Procurement and inventory
Parts, suppliers, purchase orders and stock, tied to the designs that call for them.
Production
Work orders, routings and the holds that stop one from progressing.
Quality
QA holds and manufacturing certificates, linked to the serial they belong to rather than filed separately.
Assets and warranty
The register that outlasts the build, and the warranty position attached to each serial.

The argument for a system of record is that a fault on a floor is a document somewhere else, and the document is what is left. A station faults, so a housing goes to QA hold, so the manufacturing certificate cannot be issued until it clears — three records, one event.
